1Hermes Call Back Verifier v0.5 -0
The purpose of a Call Back Verifier is to verify the existence of a user
by calling them back. It's assumed that if someone has a valid phone number,
then they have a valid identity. If you do not choose to disclose your
personal phone number to the SysOp, please let him know and exit the Call
Back Verifier without being validated.
After selecting the option to activate the Call Back Verifier you will
be prompted as to which phone number to call you back at. 900 and 976 numbers
are not allowed.
The Call Back Verifier will disconnect you and immediately call you back
at the phone number you have supplied it with. You will need to have your
modem answer the phone. This is usually done by typing "ata" and then return
immediately after receiving a "RING" string from your modem. It's also
possible to type "ATS0=1", which will set your modem's auto-answer mode so
that it will answer on it own at the first ring. Both of these examples are
assuming you have a Hayes compatible modem. If you do not have a Hayes
compatible modem, or have tried both of the above suggestions and they have
failed, consult your modem manual as to how to answer the phone with it.
Upon connection, the Call Back Verifier will prompt you for your password.
You must enter your password correctly to be successfully validated.
